This tutorial shows you how to install Vortex platforms. The Vortex platforms installer includes several different Vortex products. These are Vortex Cafe, Vortex Cloud, Vortex Fog and Vortex Insight.
How to install Vortex Platforms
Getting the correct installer
Make sure that you download the correct Vortex platforms installer for your platform. The name of the file shows both the target platform and the Vortex platform version.
- VortexPlatform_v2-linux-x32-installer.run is a Vortex Platforms V2 installer for 32 bit linux.
- VortexPlatform_v2-linux-x64-installer.run is a Vortex Platforms V2 installer for 64 bit linux
- VortexPlatform_v2-windows-x32-installer.exe for 32 bit windows
- VortexPlatform_v2-windows-x64-installer.exe is a Vortex Platforms V2 installer for 64 bit windows
Starting the installer
Steps for installing the Vortex Platforms
The setup wizard screen will appear. Press Next to continue.
Now the set up wizard asks you to accept the terms of the license agreement. You need to choose Yes or installation will be cancelled. After doing this click Next.
You are then asked to choose a directory for the Vortex platforms installer. You can accept the default directory, browse to a different directory or type in a directory you wish to use. After doing this click Next.
The next screen asks you to select which components you wish to install. If any are already installed they are grey. Clicking on a component will display a detailed description of it. All the components are selected by default. If you do not want to install any of them untick the box. When you are ready click Next.
Now you will be asked about installing a license file. If you do not have a license file choose no and click next. Installation will continue but you will need to install a license file manually after installation. See how do I license the Vortex product.
If you have a license file already choose yes. The next screen will ask you for the location of the license file. You can either enter the path to the license file or browse to the directory it is in. When you have done this click next.
If you are using windows you will be asked if you want to install Vortex Platforms for all users or only the current logged in user. The default is the current user. If you want to make Vortex available for all users you need admin privileges.
After clicking next installation will start and Vortex will install. You will see a progress bar that shows how the installation is going. If you click cancel you may be left with a partial installation which you need to remove manually. When installation is finished the setup wizard will let you know.
